Clover Island Rock Revetment | Restoration

Construction | Heavy Civil & Public Works Construction << Return to Projects

Client: CORP of Engineers | Walla Walla District
Location: Clover Island | Columbia River
The Clover Island project is located on the Columbia River in Kennewick, Washington, and lies within an important migratory corridor for aquatic species in the Hanford reach of the Columbia River. Riparian and shallow water habitat was degraded and destroyed by construction of McNary Dam and the associated Federal levees. The purpose of this rock revetment project was to restore the embankment on the SE section of the island from Section 29+25 to Section 31+00. This section of embankment has failed to wave erosion and public use of this area for fishing. For this effort, over 64 tons of filter rock was placed from the top of the slope to two feet below the water line. After the filter rock was completed over 430 tons of large diameter riprap (greater than 24” diameter) was placed. This project was completed in coordination with the Port of Kennewick.
