Client: Hidden Hollow Energy, LLC
Location: Hidden Hollow Landfill, Ada County
The Ada County Landfill, originally called the Hidden Hollow Landfill, is located in the foothills north of Boise, Idaho and east of Eagle, Idaho. The landfill sits on 2,700 acres and accepts over 400,000 tons of ordinary waste per year. The landfill has a robust recycling and diversion program in place as well as a program to convert landfill gas to energy that powers 3,000 homes in Ada County. This specific project included building a new capture and conversion plant to collect methane landfill gas and convert it through a thermal oxidizer process to create Renewable Natural Gas to be used for fueling items including water heaters, kitchen stoves, and natural gas vehicles including city busses and trash trucks. TDX was a subcontractor to Stellar J Corporation, who was contracted by LFG Development out of Dallas, Texas, for the pipeline installation and site work. TDX was tasked with installation of approximately 3,000 lineal feet of 24” HDPE pipe. In addition to the 24” pipe, a 2” electrical conduit and 2” condensate pipe was installed the full length. The site work included subgrade and subbase work for the capture and conversion equipment area including a 37,700 square foot mechanical equipment pad, truck turnaround, relocation of a fire hydrant, 645 lineal foot gravel road, and stormwater drainage swale.
